Prompt Hammer

This mythic instrument ‘makes’ prompts, that’s it’s core function, it was in fact an invocation object, made when I first attempted to describe how a prompt might come from the space where the mythic other lives. It is an interface, much like the devices we invoke ‘the AI’ on. The prompt is unique and feed to the AI and becomes new material present in a new form, now existing because I ritualised a making of a prompt.

The hammer is beautiful, the head is Oak, once a post, now a trigger point. The staff itself is Cherry, a gift from the tree I see most days, both are saturated in mineral and beeswax, the wound i gave it has been bound as an apology, it is adorned with functional and non-functional symbolic artefacts. The important ones for prompting hold the wraps with letter forms for invocation.

There are two ways to use the hammer, one through destruction the other through care, you can strike an object and read the image, using the correct end of course, or you can wrap the staff with letter forms to create a literary prompt. Both can be feed to the AI in this instance it’s a Stable Diffusion Model that I have locally trained on my own sculptural outputs.
